Recycling plant in Sabadell defend that waste sent to Mallorca are harmless28/01/2013.

People in charge of Intraregional Recycling Plant (PIRSA), located at the industrial zone Can Roqueta in Sabadell and that is dedicated to the collection and treatment of volumes, defends that waste sent to Mallorca to be incinerated are not harmful to the environment.

The manager of PIRSA, Emili González, explained that refuse coming from the facilities in Sabadell are transformed into Reusable Solid Fuel, a material that do not emit gas or smell, since they are industrial waste with all hazardous material having been treated previously.

He reminds that it is not even necessary an special permit to transfer it. González defends this way the criticism created by the shipment to the islands, which finished last Saturday with the formation of a human chain of more than 3.000 people in Palma, demonstrating against the incineration of material coming from outside the islands.
